World Soil Day (WSD) is held annually on the 5 of December to focus attention on the importance of healthy soil and advocate for the sustainable management of soil resources.
World Soil Day 2021 campaign aims to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining healthy ecosystems and human well-being by addressing the growing challenges in soil management, fighting soil salinization, increasing soil awareness, and encouraging governments, organizations, communities, and individuals worldwide to commit to proactively improving soil health.
Organic agriculture is considered a key element to keep agricultural soils healthy, fertile and productive. Soils under organic management often have better soil structure, higher organic matter contents, higher biological activity, and higher water holding capacity.
Naturland has organised a webinar in collaboration with different Naturland members from India, Uganda and Pararaguay will share their experiences on soil management.
Objectives:
- Raise awareness about the key roles of soils
- Recognize the contribution of organic agriculture to healthy soils
- Visualize practical and successful measures that keep soils fertile (in organic tea, coffee, and sugar cane cultivation)
The webinar takes place on 6 December 2021, online via Zoom (registration linked below) from 10:00-11:30 CET. It will be held in English. Participation is free and open to all!
