Organically produced oilseed requires adaptation for success. Producers must carefully consider the oilseed variety, nutrient management as well as pest, disease and weed control according to their location and needs. Rapeseed, sunflower, flax, hemp, among other oilseed varieties all have their opportunities and challenges. In organic rapeseed production, for example, the production risks are quite high. Challenges, like pollen beetles, weed pressure and limited nitrogen supply, can be managed with agroecological practices, like service and catch crops. These, among other techniques, can provide good soil coverage, competing with weeds and may also reduce pests.
Here all tools specific to oilseeds are featured.
