Pesakonna või tootmispartii sigade suur erinevus muudab optimaalse kasvu jaoks vajaliku toitainevajaduse kindlaksmääramise keeruliseks. Seetõttu on dieedid koostatud soovitatust suurema lüsiini- ja valgusisaldusega, mille tulemuseks on toitainete raiskamine ja tarbetult kõrge N-emissioon.
Kahest või enamast faasist koosnev faasisöötmisplaan kajastab paremini erineva eluskaaluga (kasvufaasis) sigade tegelikku valgu- ja aminohapete vajadust, kuna toorvalgu ja asendamatute aminohapete sisaldus toidus väheneb sigade vanuse kasvades. .
Faasisöötmine vastab paremini sigade toitainete vajadusele ja vähendab toitainete üle- ja alatoitmist. Siga kasutab sööta paremini ära, mis soodustab nii tootmise ökonoomsust kui ka vähendab N-heitmeid.

This practice abstract was elaborated in the Organic Knowledge Network on Monogastric Animal Feed project. The project is running from January 2018 to December 2020.
