Az ökológiai termelésnek 2025-ben 100%-ban biofehérjét kell használnia, de a biofehérje elérhetősége korlátozott.
A kagyliszt helyettesíthet más, kevésbé fenntartható fehérjében gazdag összetevőket, különösen hallisztet az ökológiai sertések és tenyészállatok takarmányában. Ezenkívül a kagylók nitrogén- és foszforfelvételük révén csökkenthetik a víz eutrofizációját.
A takarmányfelvétel, a súlygyarapodás és a tojásrakás normális szinten marad, ha kagylólisztet etetnek tenyész- és hízósertésekkel vagy tojótyúkokkal. A tojás minősége jó marad, a sárgája narancssárgásabb színű, mint a halliszt etetésénél (1. ábra).

This practice abstract was elaborated in the Organic Knowledge Network on Monogastric Animal Feed project. The project is running from January 2018 to December 2020.
