In this three-hour event, we want to look at the issue of the new Genetically Modified Organisms and the new legislation on New Genomic Techniques (NGTs) that is planned for the second quarter of 2023, from a scientific, economic, and political perspective. We aim to highlight the array of stakeholders that have a critical view towards a relaxation of the regulatory framework of NGTs and bring together stakeholders from the agri-food sector, NGOs, scientists, as well as Members of the European Parliament and the European GMO-free Regions.
The event will cover:
- The impact of a deregulation on the food & farming sector and the GMO-free production chain
- Freedom of choice between GM- and non-GM products for food producers and consumers
- Input from the Commission, Members of the European Parliament and GMO-free Regions
- The scientific foundations of the Commission’s initiative
You are invited to discuss the consequences of such a deregulation on environmental and consumer protection and on the GMO-free production chain in Europe.
